New Third Way Presents Research Findings on Public Perceptions of Wind Power in Serbia

New Third Way (Novi treći put) has officially presented the key findings of its latest research initiative on public attitudes toward wind energy in Serbian municipalities hosting active wind farm projects. Alongside these new insights, our team introduced a comparative case study linking the findings with last year's research conducted in Serbia's coal-mining communities. Both projects were implemented with the support of the Heinrich Böll Foundation Western Balkans.

As Serbia continues its transition toward cleaner power sources, understanding how local populations experience renewable energy projects—and how their views compare to traditional energy-producing regions—is essential for building a socially sustainable energy transition.

Research Overview and Insights

During the presentation event, the research team offered a comprehensive look into the project's framework and key outcomes. Team member Dimitrije Milić opened the session by outlining the core objectives and methodology behind mapping local community perspectives on renewable energy development.

Building on this framework, Miloš Glišanović detailed the empirical results from the new field research, focusing on local sentiment, economic expectations, and public perception in municipalities with active wind energy infrastructure. To provide broader context, Dragoslav Rašeta shared comparative findings from last year’s study in coal-dependent communities, highlighting the distinct social dynamics and economic concerns of regions facing a long-term departure from fossil fuels.
