New Third Way (Novi treći put) continues to expand its international expert network and strategic engagement in the field of mining and sustainable natural resource management.

As part of the ongoing regional project supported by the Open Society Foundations – Western Balkans, our advisory team is actively providing expert assistance to the Government of North Macedonia in reforming its mining and geology legislative framework.

International Experts Join Advisory Team

To strengthen this advisory process, two prominent international specialists have joined the New Third Way project team:

Kristi Disney Bruckner, a US-based legal expert with extensive international experience in responsible mining law reform across more than 15 countries, brings deep expertise in governance standards and regulatory design. Joining her is Prof. Dr. Vječislav Bohanek from the University of Zagreb, an expert with years of academic and professional experience in mining engineering and geology.

Current Activities and Objectives

The advisory team is currently conducting a thorough baseline analysis of North Macedonia’s existing regulatory framework.

The primary objective is to align national legislation with relevant European Union standards, statutory environmental safeguards, and global best practices. The resulting recommendations will serve as a foundational blueprint for modernizing the country's resource governance.
